The winter months will see a few more strands of research being tied up (all being well), with the help of a number of archivists, historians and family members. I’m also aiming to make serious progress on writing the stories up.
Curiously enough, I’ve discovered affinity with others of the embarrassed lederhosen generation – I spoke to the sons of two German women who settled here. As boys, they were outed in the streets of Britain for wearing the trousers. Hilarious in retrospect: hideously embarrassing at the time. But so, so practical.
