Here’s a bit about us (although you can read more on the tabs above).
Derek is a writer and editor – he does words. Being a woman, Sarah can multi-task, so she writes, edits and takes photos (and she restores some too).
In essence, we write about heritage. Have a look at the about us pages to find out more.
PS. A bit about our business…
“To see a world in a grain of sand, and heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour.”
Perhaps a bit pretentious to start with a quote (it’s always been a favourite of Sarah’s), but we think maybe Mr Blake says it better than we can.
When we were thinking of a name for our business, we thought about the fact that we all live in an amazing world, full of sights, sounds and experiences. Some of them are small, quiet and easily missed, but no less wonderful. We decided that we wanted to listen to these ‘whispers’, then share them with you in words and pictures. So here we are!
Why a birch leaf in our logo?
It’s simple really. Birches are beautiful trees, great for wildlife, very photogenic, and we both love them. There can be so much beauty in little things, like a birch leaf, and that’s one of the things that Whispers is all about.
Sarah grew up in the shade of a magnificent birch tree, and it’s always been a big favourite of Derek’s – he’s planted a birch at every home he’s owned. The leaf in our logo comes from the tree in our garden, which he planted.
The formal bit
We work under the umbrella of Whispers from the wild Ltd, a private limited company. The company number is 8295343. We are the directors and shareholders.
